Eid Al-Futr, when the crescent moon sights and brings spiritual joy!

Eid Al-Futr in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – an event celebrated among Muslims all around the world, filled with confetti and kindness.

 

Muslims across the world assemble with their loved ones to show appreciation towards Allah after the month of reflection in this holiday – they spend the 3-day festival indulging special food, kids playing and opening their gifts, and adults spending quality time with each other.

Saudis mark their final day of Ramadan with this Holy celebration; it starts with a fresh breakfast, quiet prayers and finishes up with warm gatherings and gifts with their loved ones.

Since Eid Al Futr is an event where all Muslims practice gratitude and appreciation, there are special common phrases used to wish each other a blissful life. Here are the most five phrases you will hear:

 

كل عام وأنت بخير  kul A’am wa anta bekhair (m)/ kul A’am wa anti bekhair (f).

“Happy New Year” – a wishful salute for all Muslims to spend the rest of their lives happy and healthy. The response is usually wishing back the same intention that comes with goodness of all.

 

 عيد مباركEid Mubarak (m/f)

A common greeting spread around Muslims to wish them a blessed life full of safety and health. The response goes around blessing them back with the same wishes.

 

من العايدين   men alA’aydeen (m/f)

A phrase used to state an invitation that the Eid will return to us for many years of health and wellness. The response is (من الفايزين  men alfayzeen), meaning is happily accepting to be approved by Allah.

 

عساكم من عوّاده  A’asakum men O’wadah (m/f)

“May Allah make you one of those who return to this Eid” – basically encouraging to spend your days joyful, satisfied and make you of the living in the following Eid. The reply “Amen, wa eiak” which means “Amen, and you”

 

تقبّل الله منا ومنكم  taQabbal Allah menna wa menkum (m/f)

“May Allah accept all our deeds”  Allah is the most forgiving, he accepts your deeds in Ramadan, including fasting, prayer, charity and all good deeds, and he may accept it in everyone. The reply “Amen, wa eiak”
